Baptism and /or marriage lookup for James SHORTLAND

Can anyone please help me find any info regarding my gt x 5 grandfather JAMES SHORTLAND.  I know that he died in Staines, Surrey on 11 Sept 1806.  His wife's name was Elizabeth and they had 5 chldren that I know of.. James, Elizabeth, James, Richard, Ann and John, all born in Staines between 1738 and 1759.  There are big gaps in their DOBs so probably more children that I don't yet have.
Any info concerning his birth or marriage would be much appreciated.

Many thanks Romilly. Unfortunately this is unlikely to be my James SHORTLAND. WhatIa failed to include in my original post was the DOBs of his children, who were born between 1739 and 1759 so the very earliest he is likely to have been born is abt 1720.

Hi Cynn,

Most likely marriage is James Shortlands and Elizabeth Stone, married 12 Oct 1736 at Staines Middlesex, from West Middlesex Marriages.

Closest baptism I can find is James Shotland, a bastard child from Harrow Alley, baptised 3 Oct 1716 at St Boltoph Aldgate?

A more likely burial is Mr James Shortland, 31 Aug 1769 at St Mary's, Staines.

Sorry Cynn, all the baptism details are as written, no extra details on the marriage either but it may be worth you contacting the West Middlesex Family History Society as they submitted the marriage index and may have more details for that.

Marriage entry says simply both of this parish, ie. Staines.  No other information in the original parish register.
