Hi Allan and welcome to Rootschat Samantha,

Have you  tracked down the William Ball who was a Witness to the 1824 Marriage of Philip/Mary Ann?

May I suggest you look at the William Ball who on the 1851 Census was born c 1788 Barraborou (sic), Rutland.
Wife Elizabeth born c 1791, Glapthorn, Northamptonshire
Living in Bourne, Lincs
HO107/2095/4774/14
It think he married Elizabeth nee COTTINGHAM, 27 Dec 1808, St Leonard, Glapthorn, Northamptonshire. (a Nathaniel Ball was a Witness)

Also a William BALL born c 1757, Bredstock, Northamptonshire is in Stamford, Lincs in 1851 Census.

I also noticed a Tree has your Philip born Northamptonshire to WILLIAM/ELIZABETH Nee Taylor.

FreeREG has a Marriage for a William BALL/Elizabeth TAYLOR, 24 Aug 1798, St George, Stamford, Lincs.
Burial, ELIZABETH Ball, Wife of Wm, 13 Aug 1806, age 37
A William BALL, Widower, married Lydia COY, Spinster, 02 June 1809 same Church.
(possibly same man)

Hello Trish, Many thanks for the information.

I shall certainly pursue the "Barraborou" lead (Perhaps that should read Barrowdon) and also the Bredstock connection.

As for the Northamptonshire family of William and Elizabeth, they are from Kingscliffe/Apethorpe areas and I have proved some time back that they are not related to my Philip. The information did in fact originate from myself and others have copied it. I prefer to go along with the newspaper report that he came from Oakham.

Once again thanks for taking the time out to research and contact me.

I am also looking into information about Philip Ball and his family. I am related via his son Willett who I believe moved from lincoln to hull. His daughter Anne married a Dewhirst at sutton village in hull. She is my gt gt grandmother. Any information would be greatly received.

Which Ball family member do you want more information about?

and Ann's previous marriage
