This is a very narrowly-focused lookup request ... as I'm trying to get my head round a really thorny little conundrum and will go mad if I have to wait until my next visit to BLARS to address this one.

Thomas Freeman Sumpter or Irthlingborough married Mary Money of Bedford St John at Bedford St john on 30 August 1792.

But was he a bachelor or a widower??

If he was a widower, then it is highly likely that he was my ancestor. If he was a bachelor, then he was not.

Very grateful if anyone with the Bedford registers could have a quick look and put me out of my misery ...

CONCLUDED - just found Thomas Freeman Sumpter's baptism which answers my questions. He is NOT my ancestor ... although he IS closely related.
