« on: Wednesday 08 January 14 23:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Looking for further information on a Liverpool marriage 1848 - Thomas Murray to Jane Roberts - 20-163.

Can anyone see further details listed anywhere ?

Thanks

I can't seem to find any details of this marriage online. How did you match these two up? The marriage isn't on Lancs BMD which is odd.

Yes it has a GRO reference but to request a look-up you need to know the church. The GRO reference is for ordering the certificate not look-ups.

The marriage doesn't appear on LancashireBMD.  There are obviously a large number of churches and other marriage venues within the Liverpool area, and some of these have not yet been completely indexed to the site.

I think your only recourse is to purchase the marriage certificate.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

First though before ordering try to establish whether this record is the one you want. The marriage indexes don't have this couple matched up how did you match them up? Are you sure this couple married each other in the last quarter of 1848 in Liverpool? There are other names listed.

It looks like there could have been an error somewhere along the line - indexed by GRO under Liverpool but the marriages are on familysearch and all show as taking place at St. Peter, Lancaster, Lancashire!!!   Don't know which of the 2 is at fault!

Thomas Murray didn't marry Jane Roberts - he married Elizabeth Holden 11/12/1848 (he a widower, son of John Murray and she a spinster, dau. of John Holden).

Jane Roberts married William Day - she dau. of James, he son of John - and both single.
Mary Rebecca Rankin married John Edward Randelhoff
Ellen Hughes married Thomas Moss

So you can see this covers all the couples listed.
