Hi all just wondering if anyone found out any good resources about Leyswood and possible photographs of diary entries.
I have a relative Annie/ Anne Fenner who shows up on the 1891 census as working there as a domestic servant, she was not there in the 1881 or 1901 she would have been 17 at the time of the 1891 census.
Thank you :)

Just got onto this site. I know my paternal great grandfather was head coachman at leyswood late 19th century and I believe my grandmother's family lived above the coach house.  Have no photos,  only stories.

My G G  Grandfather's 1st Cousin was RN Shaw, I have info on him but nothing much on his Cousin James William Temple, I know he was a Shipowner partners with Walter Savill when RN Shaws brother Robert died, but nothing otherwise. Do you have more on JW Temple.
Thanks
Ruth

Hello Tivy,
Hello Tivy,
I have looked through my notes and found a little information for you on William Temple of Shaw Saville Shipping Line.  His wife, Ann H. Temple was b. 1837 in Northamptonshire and died in 1919 and survived her husband and remained at Leyswood until her death.  They had one son, W.R.H. Temple who married Ida Mary Corbet in 1905.  They had three daughters.  W.R.H Temple was a follower of the Eridge hunt.  Richard Norman Shaw also built the Savoy Theatre and the Piccadilly Hotel in London.
Leyswood was sold in 1927 for £6.000!  The Canadian army resided at the site during W.W.2.
You might try contacting the Groombridge History Society and Sussex Online Parish Clerks sussex-opc,org. or you could try using Ancestry. Hope this information is of some help.
Happy Christmas,
Rosie.

Good Evening:

I am composing a biographical piece, and I would sincerely appreciate any information which you may provide in relation to Leyswood -- particularly for the period wherein it was occupied by the Christoforides family.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Kind Regards,

Taylor
