Hi There

I see you have also posted on irelandxo  where there seems to be some uncertainty re dates !

Do you have Matthew's actual marriage cert ? What is listed as his father's occupation ?

Yes this is them. The Mary Ann Oglesby of the 1901 census could be the Mary Anne Halpin who died in 1901 as the ages would match. That would give her a birth year of c.1857. too young to be the mother of their first child though.

However I think Christopher's age was about 10 years out as it was recorded as 60 on death and burial records for 1900 but prison records give a birth date of c.1828.

All of the children of Christopher have his occupation listed as 'dealer' on birth and marriage certificates that I have. I have Matthew's birth as 28th October 1871 and marriage as 1891.

Having looked again I realise my typing needs improving. Christopher was born c.1828. Only a hundred years out. I have gone back to the site but can't seem to find a way to edit the post.

Hi Rose

I'm still confused about the years.

You say that Maryanne  was born 1857 - nearly 30 years younger than Christopher ... not unheard of but a larger age gap than usual.

Then I can see the Oglesby / Halpin couple having a child in 1869 on irishgenealogy when, going on your dates would make Maryanne 12 .... a bit on the young side.

Then you say Maryanne was buried under her maiden name of Halpin couple?

It's no wonder you have hit a brick wall as it seems a bit confusing alright.

Tara
