Excellent, I have the right family.
Books and stuff on the internet seem to connect your George Priestman with the Yorkshire Priestmans (ie one of the Yorkshire Priestman brother, George (John and Richard being the other brothers) headed off to Cumberland and started a Priestman branch there) and indicate your George was born about 1642. So the link I posted is one of these books online with the Priestman Pedigree. All the books seem to state that George Priestman married a Jane Priestman in the 1680s (from memory). It might be worth paying to look at Joseph's Quaker birth record ..... does it actually state his mother as Elizabeth?
?
Just wondering about this as some trees on line have somehow decided that this George married an Elizabeth ...... when all the books I had a look at clearly state that it was his brother John (or Richard, can't remember now) married an Elizabeth (surname is stated) and that George married a Jane Priestman (possibly cousin). Alternatively, maybe Jane died and George remarried an Elizabeth cos Jane would be pretty old in 1719 to be giving birth. Regardless, this Priestman family were pretty well known quakers so it is odd that I can't find any quaker record for George before 1719 .... having said that, it does seem the Cumberland quaker records are a little slim on the ground before about 1720.
