The certificate I have is the Extract Entry of Birth - for Catherine McBride Ferry. (It is not in great shape). Born 1900 April 17th - Smithtston Row, Cumbernauld.
Father: Andrew Ferry - Coal miner. Mother: Mary Ferry  (McBride). Marriage: 1895 April 25. Kilsyth?
Parish Cumbernanld

This does mean that Robert Ferrie was born before this marriage.

That bodes well for that marriage entry in 1895. A little on Kilsyth here www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/STI/Kilsyth/Gaz1868.html

Hopefully the 1895 marriage will reveal more  :)

For these birth dates, civil registration is up and running in Ireland. And yes, there are many exceptions to the registration practice, but lets go with registration for the moment.

Where did your birthplace of "Dungloe" for Andrew come from?

The combination of forename Andrew and surname Ferrie (variant Ferry) is not common, this is the only one I could see:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYTN-DW5

Here's the same guy from the "Ireland Births and Baptisms, 1620-1881" collection, son of Brian Ferry and Grace O'Donnell:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F5F9-CJM

Dunfanaghy lies some 25 - 30 miles NE of Dungloe but I wouldn't rule it out just now as a registration location.

'Hugh Ferry' as a name is more common, and there are several registered at Dunfanaghy in the relevant time period.

This is just information for parking, I'm not saying these are your folk, you really need to focus on getting parents' details from Scottish marriage records.

Given a number of the children's births were at Smithston Row, Cumbernauld, a little here for background:

I think Andrew Ferrie B: 1871 in Dungloe County, Donegal Ireland and Hugh Ferrie B: 1880 in Donegal, Ireland were brothers. In the census 1901 Kirkintilloch, Dumbartonshire, Scotland Hugh is living with his brother Andrew. I have been unable to find a definitive parental link. Does anyone have information. Andrew immigrated in 1913 to Trail, British Columbia, Canada and Hugh immigrated in 1923 to the USA. Andrew Ferrie was my great grandfather.
Thanks,
Leslie
Hi, I have a few pictures of Andrew Ferries grave and headstone, it says he was born 1860-1918. My great grandmother was Catherine Ferrie Magnone born 1900-1975 or 76, She married Robert (Punch) Magnone dates not sure, Catherine left Trail in 1919, to go to Vancover to unwed mothers home and gave birth to my Grandmother Edna Bernice Ferrie Feb 9,1919. My dates for Andrew Ferrie are from his tombstone. I have alot of pictures of Catherine and her brothers and sisters maybe parents, I will go through yhem and post them if youd like.

Kerrie, I would love to talk about this information and these pictures. I have just visited Trail, BC and taken pictures of the family grave markers. I think we should take this offline and I am not sure how to do that as this is a public site. I will look into it and reply again. Are you on Ancestry? I can message you thru Ancestry if you are. Thanks,

I have concentrated my search to the family of Andrew (Anthony) Ferry & Mary McBride Ferry. I have requested the married certificate 1895 and I will try to confirm that. However, I also am looking at Robert Ferrie's birth. It would appear the record does show his mother as Mary McBride in 1892 and states he was illegimate. Robert had an older sister Margaret (Maggie) Ferry born in 1889 she immigrated before the rest of the family in 1911. I cannot find any record of her outside the 1901 Scotland Census before she arrived in Canada. How would I get the census from Scotland? Also looking for her birth.
Thanks,

Hello, I did not know that Margaret Ferrie returned to Scotland.  I knew she was pregnant when she married James.  I do not have a picture of Margaret other than the grouping of the first 5 girls.  I have looked into the Ferrie family for awhile now so it is great to have contact with you.  I can send you my email thru the private post if you would like.

My grandmother Katie was Margaret's sister.
