I have ancestors who died in Melbourne
 William Paulin 1898 and  William Coventry1864 .
I have the death certificates but how can I find if they left wills and where would they be kept.
Thank you.
Kevynne.

Do you mean Melbourne Australia, or Melbourne Derbyshire? - Not clear from your post.
If it's UK, Ancestry has National Probate Calendar which will give you information.
In fact there is an entry for William Paulin for 1898 in it - you'll need a subscription , or probably free access at your local library.

If it's Ancestry, there are having a free  'Search Australian Records' weekend - Australia Day Monday.

Thank you for your reply. It is Melbourne  Australia that I wanted. Great to hear that ancestry are having a free Australian weekend. I forgot that UK also has a couple of Melbournes.
Kind regards,
Kevynne

Hi

William Paulin who died 7 Sept 1898 was living as an engineer in Newcstle Upon Tyne at the time of his death. Probate was granted to his widow Mary.

Unless either man retained assets in England or Wales, it is highly unlikely for there to be a grant in the calendars.

Hello
Melbourne wills are downloadable for free at Victoria Archives
http://prov.vic.gov.au
There's a will for William  E Paulin fruiterer  15.10.1898 Port Melbourne but doesn't look like there's one for William Coventry.
They take a while to download but they do eventually give you the full records.

Hi there
No ,it's not you. It's a problem with their website.I'm having trouble even getting the page up,let alone getting to the view bit. They do seem to be really slow even when working at their normal speed but something is definitely going on with them.
I'll keep trying and if I get anywhere I'll pm you for an e-mail address to send the files to.
Sorry that's the best I can do.

Thank you so much.
I will keep trying to get into it again also.
It is good to know that I am not the only one that is having problems.
