Adelaide Teare - Completed Thank-you!
« on: Saturday 25 January 14 20:41 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

Could someone please help - I have an Adelaide Teare born 1861 Maughold, Isle of Man.  I have traced her as far as the England 1901 census, she is unmarried and working as a Lady's Maid, and then I lose all trace, there is a record on the Canadian Passenger List on ancestry but I have not got a worldwide subscription so cannot access it.  Did she move to Canada and subsequently die there?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Sue

1901 has her b 1866 and living/working in Surrey

The free 1911 index has an Adelaide Teare b 1866 living in Windsor Berkshire.  Birthplace matches to Isle of Man.  Have you already discounted that entry?

Ancestry have her indexed as Seare

So if that is the correct 1911 entry, she must have returned before it was taken

Have you got her in 1891 ? Wondering if she had been to Canada previously. ? Or perhaps this is someone else same name and year of birth.  ???

Can see an Addie Teare born 1866 England - St Antoine Ward - Montreal centre - occupation domestic. Living with the Lomas family.

The Outward list - May 1905 - said Miss A M Teare  - from Yorks Eng.  :'( Possibility Miss A Teare returns from Montreal to Liverpool, 19th July 1905 on the Victorian - Domestic.

Hi Sandra,

OK now I'm a little confused, these both seem like her, was she travelling with her "mistress" to Canada perhaps in 1911, the census gives head of house as Winifred Arran, was she also on the passenger list?

She is in England on the 1891 census, but working in a different household.
