William Williams Llanwrst
« on: Tuesday 28 January 14 13:40 GMT (UK) »
High, William was my Grandfather and was known as soldiermawr. He served in the 1st Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers from 1906 until 1919 and then again in WW2.
My puzzle is that he had two Sisters Martha born 1885 Llanwrst and Nellie (Elen) born 1894, both alive in 1919 and mentioned on his demob papers. Martha was a domestic nurse at the Swan Inn Llanwrst in 1901 but I have no trace of her after that. Nellie was living in Denbigh Street Llanwrst in 1911 with her Grandmother Ann.
Needle in haystack time, does either of these two people ring any bells with anyone. I have not found a marriage or death that is certain for either of them.

The 1891 has a 5yr old Martha Williams b Llanrwst parents Robert & Mary.  She is still with parents in 1901

She only has a sister Winifred Olwen aged 6 in both 1891 and 1901.

She may possibly be the Martha who married in 1909,  but I'm not convinced this is your Martha as I would have expected to see William on the 1891/1901 if he was in the Army by 1906

Who were William's parents and when and where was William born

In 1901, Ellen Williams aged 6 b Llanrwst is with her Williams grandparents William (67) and Ann (65) in Llanrwst.  No Martha or William

If Martha was b 1885 and Ellen 1894 - presumably William was born somewhere inbetween

Hi Carol W. Williams parents were John born 1857 Llanwrst and Ann Thomas born Bettsw-y-Coed 1859
William was probably born Llanwrst as was Martha but they were baptised in Bettsw.
William grew up in Back Watling Street Llanwrst, a very poor part of the town at the time, the connection to Bettsw I think is sentimental, they met there and worked there in hotels.
Thank you for taking the trouble to look at this for me it is appreciated, I know a great deal about my Grandfather and his family and have been researching his "tree" for ten years or more. Would just be nice to find these two Sisters.
I was hoping a descendant of Martha or Elen might make a connection.
