What is their Data Protection Policy, i.e. what guarantees are there that they will not sell/use your address/phone/email details?

It's on their website. It looks pretty comprehensive, as you'd expect from such a big organisation, and again unsurprisingly for a religious organisation they state: "We regard your personal information as confidential and do not sell it to anyone."

For non-members of the Church, this is a fantastic service, provided at the cost of Church members: their generosity is impressive.

'We have received your request for Photo Duplication. As we get many requests for this service, please allow 14 business days for us to complete your request.'

I had this reply this morning as well but I requested mine on 30th January  ::)   :)

Me too - on 30th Jan as well.  Maybe they are spending the day sending out these emails.

But is this 14 days from today or 14 days from 30th?

I suppose I'll have to wait (patiently) and see *sighs*

Note they say '14 business days' which usually excludes weekends, so I'm allowing three weeks from the date of their email.  If it comes earlier, brilliant!  It's still free, as opposed to hiring the film and driving over 1200 km to view it.  Bargain!

That's great, Carol!

I had an email from them on 6th Feb saying my copies were ready and would be coming to me in another email - and I haven't heard anything more. Very odd!

I'll leave it for a few more days because I think you ordered yours a few days before me, didn't you?

Hi Jill

I got that same message on the 5th and received the copy yesterday, so it's taken over a week.
I think the original order was a few days before yours

Hi Gen

No it's a copy of the marriage certificate not a PR's entry.  Saved me £9.50 (if that's what they still are)

Hi Carol

I'm puzzled about the marriage certificate you have received, what country is it? If it is England or Wales then Familysearch.org does not have access to certificates, only to the GRO Index and various church Registers. The body of a Parish Register is identical to the GRO register, when you order a certificate from the GRO a certificate is created at that point. The body of the certificate is a scanned copy of the GRO Register. A copy of the Parish Register entry is identical to the body of a certificate without all the additional official wordings etc.
