I have the following certificates: Thomas Morfey Leadbetter birth 15th November 1874 Foreign of Rye, his marriage certifcate 12th December 1898 Greenock, his death certificate 12th February 1952 Playden Sussex. I have a copy of his Naval record, he enlisted on 19th October 1893 at Devonport, transferred to Coastguard on 1st May 1919.
 I have Ellen Susan Baker's marriage certificates to William Leadbetter in 5th September1869, Parish Church Rye and to Thomas Morfey  20th March 1877 Register Office Rye.

Thomas Morfey marriage to (Ellen) Susan Leadbetter, witnesses were Thomas Wood and Elizabeth Baker. Thomas father: Elijah Morfey, deceased, farm labourer. Ellen Susan father: John Baker, shipwright. Her marriage to William Leadbetter: Witnesses: John Baker and Mary Ann King. William's father:William Leadbetter, labourer and Ellen's father: John Baker, shipwright. William was 23, labourer and Ellen was aged 20.

Hi ,
My grandfather was Thomas Morfey he changed his name to Smith  when he absconded from the army to join the navy ,I have no army or Navy records for him ,I never met him as he died before I was born but my older brother Fred knew him and my mother nursed him until his death at our house in Playden .

I have my family tree on Ancestry which you could look at.

My G/Parents was Thomas Morfey 1874-1952 who married  Annie Hunter Barrie 1876-1942.
Thomas joined the army at 15 years old but went AWOL he changed his name to Smith and joined the navy ,he was a stoker on HMS Benbow ,he met Annie when his ship was stationed in Greenock ,Scotland ,He later become a coastguard on the Isle of Wight  and died in Playden in 1952

My G/G Grandfather was Thomas Morfey 1829-1901 
G/G/G Parents Elijah Morfey 1803-1875  ,and his wife was   Lousia Bannister 1811-1884                                                                 

Sarah Catt Born 1773- lived with a Mr Morfey.
They had 5 children.
