Wow !! is all I can say Sandra. My familytree will be updated to reflect your input.  Interestingly the UK birth and Canadian records show Alex's middle name as McClammont  but his father's death certificate shows McClymont. I suspect that somewhere there is a female maiden name for one or the other but I haven't found it yet.

Do you know of a Mary Beaumont who supposedly emigrated to Canada on the SS Laurentic out of Liverpool bound for Montreal in May 1912 ?

Many thanks again

There was a Mary Beaumont aged 33 years travelling with her son Albert aged 11 years. Both going to join husband/father - a boiler maker in Toronto for 1 year. SS Laurentic.
Did fine them returning on the Metagama 17 July 1915. Isaac Beaumont aged 40 years. Mary aged 36 years and Albert 14 years.

Also a Margaret Beaumont transcribed as a Mary Beaumont born 1896 and aged 15 years - travelling on the Tunisian - there were a few groups of home children on that journey.

Thanks again Sandra, obviously the Mary I had travelling on the Laurentic was not our Mary.
On the other hand the Mary/Margaret on the Tunisian could be the right one. Having looked at the passenger list there appears to be 3 large groups of unaccompanied children ? Do we know what happened to the children after they disembarked in Canada.
