The 1930 death notice for Hannah ELSTON at Colac states that she was the widow of the late Arthur H ELSTON of Apollo Bay and her children are Rose, Edith (dec), Arthur (dec), Robert (dec) Charles and grandaughter Violet ELSTON.

Hello debeades.
Welcome to RootsChat.    :)

I think the answer to your question would be that it could have been anywhere!

I've searched all the available online indexes plus what I have on disk, and nothing turns up, not even when I searched South Australian records and Victorian records just using her given names, together and separately.
I don't have access to Tasmanian records, but I know a couple of others on the board do.

I don't know if anyone else has any suggestions.

Hi

I would suggest Melbourne would be much closer to Colac?  Lots of unwed mothers went to Carlton Women's Hospital.

(was it ??) bit confused again. their daughter rose also born 1885.     hmmmmm.....I was thinking this Arthur was the same person, but birth and death dates are different...........oh I don't know now which rose is what,   which rose is violets mother ???   so certificates I guess from here.    thank to all for the help so far

hugs frm heather

Hello.
I am new to this site.
My grandmother was Violet Thelma Elston  she was married to George Ross. And her mothers name was Rose. They come from Colac Victoria.
Cheers Gina Fairbrother.

Hi Heather, Violet Thelma Elston was my grandmother. My cousin contacted me regarding this post. I don't think she had a birth certificate, my sister and I tried for years to find one but didn't.
Violet was born in 1910, not sure about her birthday as she died when I was 16.
May I ask why you are searching for her? Are you a long lost relative.
Regards
Sue

I don't blame you, Heather.....it's very confusing, so I think a certificate or two maybe in order. If only we could find Violet Thelma's birth!

After much searching, I have found a birth for a Rose around 1885 ....actually in 1884 in Milparinka, NSW, listed as Rose ANDREWS, with mother Hannah ANDREWS......just to throw a little more confusion into the saga! I haven't checked it on the NSW index yet, but no father is given, and ref number is 33128.
