She had a base born son in 1838 -William Edwards born in Stanton Long Shropshire. In the records of Stanton Long church it says Elizabeth is a servant .In the 1841 census it records an Elizabeth Edwards with son William aged 2 in the parish of Cardington but I am not sure it is the right one.
I think I will have to throw the ball on this one and hope somebody out there catches it ! Regards Jaro

From Genuki

"CARDINGTON, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of Munslow, in the county of Salop.......

"LONG STANTON, a parish in the hundred of Munslow, county Salop......

There's this William Edwards born c1838 Cardington on 1881 census married to Jane

Will see if I can find Elizabeth & William together on the 1851 census to confirm their pob

William married Zilla Wear in Bridgnorth in 1861.regards Jaro

FreeBMD has her name as Silla WYER married Sep qtr. 1861 Bridgnorth vol 6a page 947

Have you found William or Elizabeth Edwards on 1851 census?

I know you want to find details of William's mother Elizabeth Edwards parents
just in case anyone else can help have given details of her son William

Is this William & Zilla with their children on 1871 census?

mother Martha WYER is with William EDWARDS & children on 1891 census both widowed

Still can't find William with his mother Elizabeth on 1851 census to establish her pob  ???

There is this William Edwards born c1837 Shropshire Servant Ag. Lab. on 1851c Stoney Stretton HO107; Piece: 1991; Folio: 82; Page: 9 head of household George Pugh Farmer

It's possible that Elizabeth may have married  :-\

Do you have William's marriage certificate? If so who witnessed their marriage?

I too am looking for William Edwards born 1838 at Stanton Long, Shropshire.  The baptism record at Stanton Long shows him to be the base child of Elizabeth Edwards, Servant of Stanton.  The first census record that I can find him is in 1871.  I have him through to 1911.  He married Zillah Wyer (Wear).  William died in 1914.
I too wonder whether Elizabeth took the name Edwards as that of the father and named her son William Edwards.  If anyone has found more information  on this post it would be appreciated.
