You seem to have traced the family quite a long way back.

Is there anything specific you need help with, or are you just hoping meet others related to the same Simmon/ds? :-\

When you say 'direct line' how does this Stringer fit in?

Stringer Simmonds b. c1703 d. 1711 - burial St. Marys' Nottingham

He died aged 8? So, he's an offshoot of your direct line rather than a direct ancestor?  :-\

Looking at the deaths and marriages provided by Carol, there are a number of Stringer Si/ymmon/ds? Great unusual name - every likelihood they are related.

Let us know if you need help with anyone or anything specific. :)

Hi, Sorry I meant that Stringer died 1771 he was about 68 yrs.  Yes, I have done the bdm. years ago but I can't find anything about them re the lacemaking in Nottingham.  There are stories written that when the Industrial Revolution came with so many of the Simmons family in the lacemaking that they all had to learn another trade.  My Charles came to Australia, another brother and his mother after the death of his father also.  Another brother went to Utah and a great deal written about he and his family as before leaving the UK they changed their religion and became Mormons.
I am new to this site and after posting the first note I received an email telling me that there was a reply.  However, I just popped in know to have a look at the site and see other letters to me - so I apologise for not thanking everyone who is trying to help me.  Does it mean that you check this site each day as you don't get an email advising there is a message?
Thank you all, Lesley

Hi Lesley,
Yes you should get an email notifying you that there has been a reply to a thread you started, or a thread that you have contributed to.  :) When you sign up there is an option to receive emails.
If you receive lots of replies, you can receive lots of emails. You don't have to check every day  - only when you get an email.
