help tracing a death record
« on: Tuesday 04 February 14 09:44 GMT (UK) »
Hi i'm wondering if anyone could possibly help with finding a death record.

A while ago I was searching for my great grandfather's death and came accross this record:

Angus McArthur died 1925, Father Donald.

I think i found it on the Australian Death index or similarly named. The problem was this was all the info i could get from it.

Is there anyone who could pinpoint a location and possibly retrieve anymore info from the document?

Any help would be fantastic.

Thanks,

Pedro.

If you look at the Queensland BDM Indexes https://www.qld.gov.au/law/births-deaths-marriages-and-divorces/family-history-research/, you can find a death registered in 1925 for an Angus McArthur, with parents Donald McArthur and Elizabeth Fahey, registration number B46847.  The B prefix suggests he died in the Brisbane region.

Given this, you can then check the Brisbane City Council Cemeteries Online https://online.brisbane.qld.gov.au/ and you will find that
Angus Donald Alexander McArthur, aged 35 years,  was buried at Toowong Cemetery on 28 September 1925 in Portion 15A Section 3 Grave number 5.  Also buried in the same grave is Margaret, aged 58 years, on 18 May 1946.

Going back to the Queensland BDMs, you can search for the marriage and birth of one daughter.

Hope this helps :)

Thank you so much for your help rwindsor2905, sparrett (Sue) and ennael (Leanne).

Unfortunately rwindsor2905's brilliant information has rulled out this possibility of it being my Angus McArthur's death as his mother was Jane/Janet Williamson. So i guess my search continues. :/

Kindest regards and best wishes.

Pedro.
