Parry - Holywell

Hi, doing some research for a friend on his family of Parry
I have his grandfather Alfred Parry born Holywell, Flintshire in approx 1879
His parents were John Parry (b 1855? Holywell) and Mary Elizabeth Hughes (b1857 Holywell)
I have this family on Census in 1881 (Bangor), 1891(England), 1901(England),1911(England) so have the siblings of Alfred.
Father John's birth year varies on census with 1854 and 1855 mentioned.
Drawing a big blank to go back any further so woudl love some help or suggestions

There is this possible marriage on freebmd

Marriages June qtr 1877   
Mary Hughes    St. Asaph    11b   633    
John Parry      St. Asaph    11b   633

The 1861 Welsh census has 2 John Parry's both b 1854 Holywell so you really need a copy of his marriage cert to determine his fathers name

I felt that marriage cert was probably the next place to go so will pass that onto the friend to arrange before we go further

The marriage you gave at St Asaph isn't the correct one.North Wales BMD has the Mary Hughes given marrying a Frederick Williams.

UKBMD gives a marriage of a Mary E Hughes to a John Parry at Chester St John.The GRO ref for this marriage is Jul/Aug/Sep quarter 1878.Volume 8a,Page 534.

He still doesn't show up too readily in the early Census years.

I spotted the one in Chester but discounted it as the eldest child was born in Bangor Wales so presumed the marriage must have occurred there also
