Dear List
I have posted about this family on the Westmorland site but he lived and died in or around Birkenhead for may years.

This is the thread I have already put on the Westmorland list about him and his family.

He was a Reverend and died around Claughton 27 June 1851.
I wonder how I could find out which church he was a curate at around the Claughton area.Does anyone know please.
In the 1841 Census he says School master. Does anyone have any information on that just by any quirk of fate?


Also if he left a will where would the probate have taken place. Would I be able to get a copy?

Are there any lists of graves for the Claughton area does any one know.

Any further information about him or his family gratefully received or ideas of where to go for information.

FindMyPast has this.  Burial.
It may be worth looking at , he might have been buried in his own parish.

Cheshire BMD has this, it may narrow it down a bit. Right age .

Thank you very much for both of those.

So the first one saying 'Residence" St Mary, Birkenhead. Would you think this is where he worked and lived.

The second is more specific - Manor View, Claughton. Tried looking for it but many Manor Views seem to pop up mainly house sales then I can't find a Manor View on them!

Just looked further it seems Claughton is served by St Mary - have I got that right?

Checked original image and looks like "Nairn, Scotland"!!

Thank you very much for the reply. Yes, Have looked at that.
On the 1851 census  it is definitely Nairn. But that is in Scotland so I can't understand that. I have written to the Archives at Nairn but as yet have not heard back.

Also the place where he was born if you look carefully is not Morley but Morland :) - the d is under the rest of the word.

He is in Cheshire in the 1841 Census too. Listed as School Master.

There was a "Manor View" at  94/98 Upton Road Claughton.
& Claughton-cum-Grange was served by St. Mary's Church, the parish church of Birkenhead.
There is no MI recorded for this gentleman at St. Mary.

in 1851 he is at Rimmer Row, just 2 schedules from Manor View.
Parish of Bidston , township of Claughton.
he has a wife Eliza 36 . five children, two nephews and one servant.
