St Peter's, Dalbeth_new map
« on: Wednesday 19 February 14 19:34 GMT (UK) »
Hi all

noticed there are many requests for lair plans for Dalbeth. So decided to draft one up, with the help of the ground-staff. I'd be happy to email copies, printable to A4 size to anyone who gets in touch. Enjoy.

Davie
ps: the print version is much clearer than this one.

Monica

thanks for the good words, I was surprised there are three sections of Common Ground. Always thought there was just the one. Makes it a bit harder now to know which one some of my relies are in. Oh well.

Thank you very much for the map ayrgenes. I have family in St Peter's Dalbeth myself, all in the areas of common ground. I must go back to see if there are any good photos of those areas to be had.
Very helpful map.

Davie, great map of St Peters Dalbeth. I too have relatives in common ground and didn't know there were three areas-wow! I have a question for you.Do you know where section 12 is as I have a relation buried with his cousin there and last time was at St Peters couldn't find it and no one around to ask. Thanks and great work,Kim

Hi blemdookie

have added amended map, with Sect 12 on. Must have overlooked it on original, sorry all. Yes that area is quite hard to pin down, most of the others are well sign-posted. There are small concrete posts inserted into the grass along the main path, painted off-white but there are no numbers on yet. Staff say they will get round to it soon.

Anyway, sect 12 - carry on the main path from the entrance, keep to the left of the office (sign 3B) and follow path all way to the end, as path turns right at bottom =sect 12. Had a look today and not many stones in that area. Happy hunting

Hi Ayrgenes(Davie), Thanks for the updated map of St Peter's Dalbeth. Looking at it now, I must've been in sections 3a and 3b and common ground looking for the relies as I assumed it would be close to #13. I will have to go again and have a relook. Would there be anywhere that would have a complete listing of who is buried there including those people in common ground besides the burial lists at the Mitchell as they are so hard to read. Kim

Hi Kim

there are limited records on the ScotlandsPeople site (pay as you view), under Catholic Records, or you could always try Sharon at the Archdioscece office in Clyde St, she has been helpful to me in the past. She is the only one I know who would have complete listings. I was told recently by groundstaff they hold the past ten years records on site. There are a couple of other places that have some burials ie Momento Mori, but very limited. Contact details for Sharon: 0141 226 5898, taken from on-site office.

Good hunting
