Frederic(k) Furber - Saskatchewan, Canada
« on: Tuesday 25 February 14 12:33 GMT (UK) »
I'd like to find information about my ancestor Frederic(k) Furber (b. 1859 in St. George, Bristol, England). He owned a boot & shoe factory in Bristol which was destroyed by fire in 1902.

I believe he moved to Canada sometime after this with his family:

Spouse: Marion, b 1862
Children:
Vida Estelle Furber, b 1883
Conrad J Furber, b 1886
Runaken C Furber, b 1887
Dunstan Lionel Furber, b 1888 – 1978
Daisy Gregory Furber, b 1892

Possible locations: 1911 Battleford, Saskatchewan
1921 Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

I don't have access to Canadian records and would be especially interested to find out if they started a business there, or how they made a living. (Frederic's brothers continued in the boot trade back here in Bristol.)

Thanks, Jeff

Thanks everyone for the information.

Can anyone find them in the 1901 England census?

I have FF in St. George, Bristol in 1881; married to Marion Gregory in 1882; in Kingscote House, Bryants Hill Road, St. George, Bristol in 1901.

He was in Bristol c. 1885 -1887 (ref. London Gazette notices re his boot business). Surely should be easy to find with their unusual children's names, but I can't (Ancestry).

Thanks again, Jeff
