The son Hugh,  odd he was was born in NY?

And R Dowdall from Ireland --  a lodger or a relative ??

Can they be picked up ther is 1880, I wonder ?

Excellent sighting --  Thank you very much!

Hi Murphy

A tiny clue perhaps that might lead to narrowing the gap......

"John Fanning is 79 years old.  He came to Cuba in 1860 from Wisconsin
and moved out on the farm where he now lives the following year.
There were six houses in Cuba at that time and he rented one of them
and furnished it before his wife came.  He thought the old wooden
fireplace in one end of the house was a place for the cook stove,
and used it as such, hanging a quilt up for a door."

This is a direct quote found in the piece recorded here:  http://files.usgwarchives.net/mo/crawford/history/sttlrscc.txt

It was quite interesting to note that an area of Crawford county is known as "Fanning".

Best wishes
Jean

Hello Jean,   Very interesting!    Trying to mesh this together with my group known to be in Kansas.  A new group of players potentially.

Yes, Fanning, the home of the World's largest rocking chair, they claim ::)

Appreciate your help and interest.
