Thanks Gazania,
I live on Kangaroo Island so was very interested to read that info. I came over on the ferry to the mainland today, it was a bit choppy,  but can be a very fierce stretch of water, even on a large modern vessel - yet Flinders, in a small sailing ship did so many amazing things.
I'm glad there will be a statue for him! Cheers, Anne  :D

I agree, Anne, Matthew Flinders & Bass and all the other early explorers did amazing things.  I feel that Matthew F and his poor suffering wife, really had a sad life. Gazania
