Printing Family Trees
« on: Saturday 01 March 14 16:36 GMT (UK) »
I use, and all my data is on, PAF (5). Unfortunately it only allows 5 generations to be printed  on one sheet of A4. Does any one know a free programme which will allow 8 generations to be printed on one sheet of A4

Hello,

Unless you have superb eyesight you are going to have problems seeing eight generations on one A4 page. My three photos of an eight generation chart show:

1) the chart adapted for the correct height for A4 in landscape. You cannot actually see all eight generations because of the limitations of showing the full height on the screen

2) the chart about 2/3 height for A4 in landscape, only half the width is visible

3) the chart showing the full width and therefore all the family members of eight generations

and finally, here is a five-generation chart. But to answer your question, I think you are going to have to make your own chart with either Microsoft or the free Open Office PowerPoint or Word, or equivalent

and here is what I did a long, long time ago before using a professional FH tree. I made it in word and then converted it to HTML. This tree prints out to A4 and I can still read it with my aging eyes  :o
