Foresters or Oddfellows?
« on: Thursday 06 March 14 17:34 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone recognise the banner at the front of this procession - is it Foresters or Oddfellows?  Many thanks.

Good evening,

Where is it taken, that may give us a clue to which.

Hi John, I am not sure the location will help, both Foresters and Oddfellows were prolific in the parish.

Good evening LC,

After a little research I would lean towards the Foresters.

The Oddfellows don't appear to have had the huge banners. They wore the masonic styles of regalia and had small banners about 4ft x 3ft.

The foresters also had all the regalia but are also shown with those huge banners.

Hi John

It's a good thing there are clever people like you around!  Thanks very much for your input, I will go with Foresters, but won't quote you!
