Welcome to RootsChat  :)

I'm assuming that you mean the marriage between BENJAMIN Crook and Hannah Beaumont on 13 May 1801 at St Peter.  Both are said to be of this parish (at the time of their marriage obviously).  However, I do notice that the marriage was by Licence.  The marriage bond and allegation seems to have survived, and I know that I would be inclined to purchase a copy of it from the Borthwick Institute in York.  Almost certainly it will give the ages of Benjamin and Hannah, and also probably an occupation and possible abode.

Hi again

I've looked it up via Origins (which Borthwick Institute sent me to) but clicking on "details only" are no more than I have already from non-conformist registers. Will I get more information if I send for the original image (the only other option) - its another £7 !

Ahhh!  That's the big question.  The ones I have purchased have confirmed the occupation of the groom, his marital status and an idea of age (sometimes accurate and sometimes "21 and over").  Possibly not of consequence in your case, but two of mine also confirmed that the bride was under the age of 21, and therefore the name of the person giving their consent to the marriage.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Hi

Recently returned to searching for my family and so to RootsChat.

I have g-g-g-grandparents Beaumont Crook and Hannah Beaumont married in 1801 at St Peters Huddersfield. They were buried at Highfield in 1834/1829 so were non-conformists. I can also find their children in the non-conformist registers.
I have various options for their birth/baptismal records but cannot confirm any of them.
Can anyone show any light ?

Regards

Jan

Hi Jan,
Benjamin Crook and Hannah Beaumont are also my ancestors.
I have done a fair bit of research a few years ago and may have information you need. You may of course have found what you need since March 2014 but please contact me of I can be of help.
Regards,
Phil

I had not seen this thread before but I am also descended from Benjamin Crook and Hannah Beaumont, his second wife.

I have never reliably identified parents for either of them (too many Hannah Beaumonts baptised in Huddersfield and hardly a sign of a Crook before Benjamin).

Looking forward to connecting with cousins.

Incidentally it was Benjamin Crook's leather tanning business which eventually moved into sporting goods and became the Mitre football company.

I've just joined RootsChat and am amazed at the first response to my first posting? Interesting  that you say Hannah Beaumont was Benjamin Crook's second wife.As far as I understood, Hannah died in 1833 two years after her marriage and widowed Benjamin married a Priscilla Styring on 21March 1836. Could you give me details of the first wife?.Incidentally I have a photo of Benjamin Crook taken in middle age and information about their children if you are interested.
Regards,
Phil Crookyu

Welcome to Rootschat, Phil :)

You have two generations conflated there.

Benjamin Crook senior born c1764, died 24 Nov 1834 married twice.

First: 27 Feb 1786 (Elland) to Betty Cheetham. 6 children baptised 1786-1796. Betty died as Elizabeth in Oct 1799.

Second: 13 May 1801 (Huddersfield) to Hannah Beaumont. 6 children 1802-1817.  Hannah died 5 Dec 1829.

Benjamin Crook junior born 17 Dec 1808 (3rd child of 2nd marriage), died 11 June 1883

He married twice in Huddersfield.

First: 4 Jan 1832 to Martha Beaumont.   She died 17 Jan 1833.

Second: 21 Mar 1836 to Priscilla Styring.  7 known children. She died 5 July 1872.

I am descended from Ben & Priscilla's 4th child George Henry Crook (1842-1901).  How about you?
