Joshua H Paul
« on: Friday 14 March 14 07:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi Can anyone please help me-
I have traced my mothers ancestors back to Warkworth in Northumberland. The last known family was James Paul born abt 1707 and Catherine Hutson born abt 1711.
In the records it is shown that at their children's weddings and baptism's was a relative 'Joshua H Paul'

He was at the wedding of John Paul [1733] & Isabel Henderson Married 12.5.1760
also the second wedding of John Paul [1733] & Elisabeth Wilson Married 26.5.1771 and at the baptism of their daughter Elizabeth baptised 17.10.1773.

He was at James and Catherine's daughter Elizabeth [1738] wedding to Henry Potts Married 02.07.1764.

He was at James and Catherine's daughters Jane [1742] wedding to John Humble Married 15.05.1763.

Yet i have not been able to trace the said Joshua H Paul who could have been James Paul [1707]
brother, father or related.

Can any one help me in tracing who this Joshua H Paul was, i have tried many ways but have been unable to find his place of birth or anything about him other than being shown as a relative at the wedding/baptism's shown above.

Appreciate any help. Thank you

I presume you have these - but just trying to point out something - Warkworth - James as father
4th feb 1733 baptism of John
18th aug 1734 - Margaret
13th May 1736 - Catherine
18th jan 1739 -Elizabeth
8th feb 1741 -George
20th mar 1743 - Janet
1st dec1745 - Martha
10th aug 1749 - Thomas
could Joshua H Paul have been another sibling in between Martha and Thomas ??...a 4 year gap ??...and his baptism is somehow missing ??...to be at the marriages and a baptism  from 1760 - 1773....I can`t see him being a witness at a baptism or a marriage if he is a brother of James ...this would make him around 60 - 70 ...a bit old to be a godfather / marriage witness ? and as for being the father of James Paul - he would have to be 80 -90 at these events ?

Hi
Thank you for your message, must admit i did not think of that. I seriously thought he may have been a brother of James Paul [1707] or another relative probably not the father as he would probably be to old?
I was hoping some one out there may have the answer....
Thank you for your message, best regards Harryone

Hi,

Any chance that Joshua H. Paul, was born prior to the marriage of his Parents (Paul to Hutson)?

So christening may be recorded as Joshua Hutson, later adopting the surname Paul.
