Wondering about Cissie - I have two in my family - one was really  a Cecil (middle name) and the other was a Cecily.  You could try Cecilia or Priscilla or .....

(same ideas, Carol - will check on another site - whatsinanaeme )

My   husbands  great  aunt  was  always  called   Aunt  Cis/Cissie ,   but  when    I   found  her  details  , turned   out her   name was  Sarah Ann !

Been  looking  on the  'net'   and some   info   says that  Cissie/Cis  ,   could be a pet/nickname   for the   eldest / youngest  sister  of the family ........... as  in  my  husbands  case  of  Aunt  Cis ,  she  was  the eldest   daughter .   My  husband    calls  his sister 'Sis'   her  name  being Sandra !

Is there a marriage  for  a  Cissie/Cissy   Layton ,  likewise  a  death , ?   Sometimes  obits    can give clues too

Publication Hull Daily Mail  Monday 05 March 1928

Pupils concert given by Ivy Layton and her pupils in aid of Hull Infirmary  The pupils combined well in various dances, and those contributing solo efforts were(included) the Misses Ivy and Cissie Layton

A portion of the same photo is in the Hull Daily Mail - Saturday 23 April 1921.

It doesn't say much:

"Miss Cissie Layton, who is well known as a member of the Ebenezer P.M choir, and also as a member of the Lily of the Valley Lodge of the Sons of Temperance. She is an ardent worker in the temperance movement and in the church, and is thus following in the train of her parents."

I too had a look through the newspapers.

25/12/1896 Chelmsford.
She (Cissie Layton) was a bridesmaid along with Florence Winterflood (both cousins of the bride) at the marriage of William Crabb & Gertrude Mary Layton who was the daughter of Robert Layton.  This was at Moulsham, Essex.

21/4/1921.  Hull daily Mail.

It seems that she took over the duties of the elected May Queen (her father had died) & she was a member of the Ebenezer PM Choir & a member of The Lily of the Valley Lodge of the sons of Temperence.

She might have been born in Essex & she might have been a child at the wedding of her cousin.  She's always refered to as Cissie.  So a birth before 1896 (providing she's the same Cissie Layton)
