Fodderty Cemetery
« on: Saturday 22 March 14 15:22 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone live near to Fodderty cemetery who could help me with a grave stone inscription?  I took a photo of this stone last year  ( it is lying flat in the old part of the cemetery through the main gate and up the hill to the left next to a standing stone erected by jane anderson or macLennan to her parents Kenneth and Christina.  My photo is not very clear of the stone I am interested in. It  is to Donald Mclennan railway inspector who died in Wick 1889 and his wife Catherine Innes.  But that is all i can deceipher.  Any help much appreciated

Thank you so much!  That's magic :)    I was thinking I'd have to make another trip north (not that I wouldn't like to do that anyway!).  Last trip I'd just settled in the Family History centre in Inverness when the fire alarm went off and we all had to evacuate the building.

Dear Kaitwo,

Donald Maclennan/Mclennan is my Great Great Grandfather and the Railway Inspector who is named on the gravestone.

He lived in Wick for a number of years in a house by the Railway Station and came from the Dingwall area. Born 2 October 1831 in Fodderty
Died: 20 September 1889 in Railway Station, Wick. Age: 56 years old.
He was the Way Inspector of Northern Division, Highland Railway, married to Catherine Innes, my Great Great Grandmother.

His son my Great Grandfather was Kenneth MacLennan served in the Royal Navy and the Coastguards. His daughter, Catherine Innes MacClennan was my Grandmother who married Ernest Shand.

If you would like to know any more information please let me know.

Kind regards,

David Shand
