"Dead famous DNA" Chanel 4 Wed 9pm
« on: Sunday 23 March 14 17:42 GMT (UK) »
Have just seen a trailer for this programme, part 1 of 3, starting this Wednesday on Channel 4 at 9pm.

"Veterinary scientist (!) Mark Evans tries to track down the last remains of some of history's most important and infamous figures............in a bid to find out what their biology can add to their biographies."

Sounds interesting. There's nothing else worth watching on Wednesdays tv night .... except a programme about a medieval knight I've never heard of. Maybe a night for the DVD recorder?

Hi, thanks for that, I'll watch it on "4+1" as the programme "The Greatest Knight: William Marshal" on BBC2 looks to be good as well.

Regards.

As usual, everything I'd like to watch is on the same night, at 9pm! (No, I can't record it). But there is no way I would miss the programme on William Marshal, he is one of my most favourite and admired men of the time. There is an excellent novel written by Elizabeth Chadwick about him, do read it if you can:

It needs to pick up pace, the first 15 minutes have been pointless.

Well I was disappointed with the programme. hope others find more in it than I did
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Oh dear, I have to agree with you David, it made pretty poor viewing.

I thought that there was far too much time dedicated to the dodgy sourcing of the DNA samples and making it all out to be tacky trading.  Then, in the final 10 minutes the DNA results were in...well, only the DNA from Elvis' supposed hair.

I shall perservere next week, purely for the results of the man claiming to be the son of Elvis But we probably already know the result of that claim.
