My checking has just gone ballistic!!
Cant find what I want.
Dont use computer as back up.
Sarah's godmother function would have been found on Ancestry Liverpool  Birth records associated with the surnames either Doolin, Doolan,  Currie or Gallagher, who was her witness at her marriage.

Sorry! I will spend tonight trying to sort my records out.

Alan,
Our stormy weather has stopped so I'm back in the garden...I'm going to try and establish William K*R*W*N's parents. That looks like it might be him on the Devonian in 1908 - age 14, address 36 Antonis (sp?) Street, born Liverpool.

IF I have the correct parents for William then I don't think he has a middle name? The couple had a son William born in 1893 - he must have died as a baby as they name another son William in 1894 - different godparents.  For the first born William the godparents are James and Margaret Cooney. Must look at who are the godparents for their daughter Sarah Ellen....those Liverpool Catholic birth records are a bit of a bonus!!!

He is definitely NOT the Salford born William K*R*W*N as he can be found on the 1911 census.

Jen
PS if you get a chance it would be handy to have the details of both of James marriage certificates.  I know they are elsewhere but it would be useful to have them here...

I am puzzled. When did William Kerwin, nephew, become William Francis Kerwin?

I wonder if Pierre should be Pierce. There is a 1901 marriage of Pierce Kirwin to Mary Alice Ashton.

My previous knowledge of William Kerwin was based on the 1911 Census when he was supposedly living with James & Margaret as a nephew. The "F" has crept in and I am not sure how. Apologies for my slackness.

The only Marriage Cert I have for James is as follows:

14 June 1887 James Thomas Cahill (21)  to Sarah Ellen Williams (18). Bachelor & Spinster. James a Mariner. Sarah, no profession.

Addresses 33 Epsom St Liverpool & 40 Ascot St Liverpool. Fathers Thomas Cahill, Mariner, (deceased) & William Williams, Boatman, (deceased).

St Anthony's Chapel Scotland Road.
Witnesses were James Thomas Blake & Matilda Gallagher.

I think I have exhausted my information.

Thanks

Alan

Hi Alan,

I have just joined this site earlier today-and finding my way round.  I have just come across your post,  and found it interesting !. I am also looking for relatives named Cahill.  I recently found out my grandma on my late dad's side had been married before she married my granddad, and had a son-my dad's half brother Robert, born in 1904.....this had never been mentioned in the family before-and came as a bit of surprise.  Apparently, grandma was born Margaret Hornby in 1884,  she then married ? Cahill (not found first name or marriage date as yet) in Garston Lancs....they had a son Robert. Was then widowed-yet to find out when, she then moved to Cheshire-leaving Robert behind, married my granddad in August 1914.
I am still trying to find out more,  and fill in the blanks, as my only cousin on dads side knew nothing of this either, and my dads 2 older sisters have passed away too,  and there's no other family left-as far as I know on his side to ask.

Liz

Hi Liz,
Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Robert is in Garstang area not Garston. Here he is in 1911 indexes.

It looks as though he was born Myerscough.
