Did JAMES OWEN marry MARY ANN STOUT?

Hi,

My Great-Great-Grandfather, HUMPHREY OWEN, was born 31 Oct 1843 in Warrington. I have a certified copy of an entry of birth for him. According to this certificate, his father's name was JAMES OWEN, a show-maker, and his mother's name was MARY ANN OWEN (formerly STOUT). According to census data (1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881), JAMES was born in Warrington about 1820 and MARY ANN was born in Warrington about 1818.

I am trying to find marriage details for James and Mary Ann. If they were married before 1837 then I would hope to find them together on the 1841 census - I haven't found them yet. If they were married after 1837 then I would hope that their marriage would have been registered - I haven't found that either. I have tried looking for them in parish records - brick walled again.

Has anybody got any clues on how I can obtain marriage details for JAMES OWEN and MARY ANN STOUT?

Mary Ann has had us all wondering exactly who she really is, as she doesn't seem to exist.
I have been on the trail for a while now as Joseph and Frances Stout are my 4x grandparents.
I think the name Mary Ann is a nickname or pet name, as her mother was Frances.

How did I miss this marriage? lol
In 1841 there was a Richard and Frances with 2 children living on the same street as her parents,Joseph and Frances Stout in Warrington.

The marriage cert of Richard Smith and Frances Stout stated that both were of full age and her Father was Joseph Stout, Tin Plate Worker of Mersey St.

Safe to say that Frances is not Mary Ann Stout.

So the question still is, who is Mary Ann Stout?

On Jan 7 1830 there is a baptism at St James Warrington of Phoebe Ann Jones Stout daughter of Joseph and Frances Stout.
Then this :-

Phoebe Ann Jones Stout -
    Age: 7 Yrs
    Abode: Latchford
    Buried by: T V Bayne
    Register: Burials 1831 - 1836, Page 256, Entry 2041

Alice Leigh daughter of Joseph and Frances Stout in the 1841 census was, as far as I can see, never reclaimed by her mother, Mary Ann Stout.
 
Alice Leigh,her father, William Leigh, Plumber and Phoebe Ann Jones Stout look to me as children that they have informally adopted.

You could do with finding out more about this marriage to see if Mary Owen was a widow when she married Joseph Harding on the 1841 census.

As far as I have looked Mary Ann Stout and James Owen did not get married.

I still do not know who Mary Ann Stout actually is.

I have not found any baptism or marriage for her.

Any suggestions, ideas or anything ,please ask.
