Marriages at Sunderland Registry Office

Hi Folks,

Could someone tell me where registry marriages at Sunderland took place, before the days of the Sunderland Town Hall.

The address of the Superintendent Registrar, and the registrars of Births and Deaths, are different to the addresses of the Registrar of Marriages.
The Superintendent Registrar was at 17 John Street in 1890, 1902 and 1914, and, I believe, right up to the opening of the new Civic Centre. In 1842 the Registrar of Marriages was at New East Cross Street, Bishopwearmouth. In 1858 the Registrar of Marriages was at the Savings Bank, Monkwearmouth Shore. In 1890 The Registrar of Marriages in Monkwearmouth was at 92 Victor Street, for Bishopwearmouth at 303 Riversdale Terrace. In 1902 the Registrars of Marriages were at 1 West Wear Street, and 3 Croft Avenue. In 1914 the addresses given are 1 Carlyon Street, (Deputy 173 High Street), 19 Humbledon View, ( Deputy 17 John Street).

These are all from the Directories at the time.
