Hi,

A little more back ground info on this link - possibly with the photograph you mention.

Hi,

I'm not sure if you are trying to trace Bharat Chandra GHOSH backwards or find him and his family after the dates you mention. If the latter then these might be of interest,

19 Aug 1935
St Paul's Cath, Calcutta, (Anglican)
Presidency:  Bengal

Eric Herbert HENDERSON
Age:  27
Status:  Customs Preventive Officer
Parents:  Bharat Chander GHOSH

Spouse:  Kathleen Norah FIELD
Age:  25
Parents:  Frederick Charles

I wonder if Eric changed his name to his mother's maiden name or if this is just an error? I can't see the original image to check.

Also found, it looks like Bharat was in the Freemasons,

Hello - thanks for the reply, I am trying to trace Bharat's family from the dates mentioned,   I am really not sure if it is the same Eric or not, I know that Bharat had a nephew also called Eric Henderson, but I would like to think that the Eric that you found is Bharat's son and as you suggested it was a error.  I have emailed the Freemasons in India so hopefully I will be able to update with a reply in due course! Thanks again for taking the time and trouble to reply.

Hi, I read your post with great interest as Bharat Chandra Ghosh was my grandfather. Donald Victor Ghosh was my father. All of Bharat's children changed their names to their mother's maiden name of Henderson, thus me being Jonathan Peter Henderson.  Bharat had four children as far as I know-Ellen Henderson(October born(?) died Calcutta in the 1980's. My father Donald was born 2nd November 1906 and passed away in Jan 1990. Eric Henderson was born 5th March (year unknown but a few years younger than my father) Eric passed away in Calcutta October 1st 1993. Kenneth Henderson was the youngest and when I met him in 1990 he was living in Bombay. I know he has since passed away and that was in the mid 1990's. You mention Iris Isobel as Chandra's daughter. I wasn't aware of her unless she is in fact Ellen as we knew her. The lady in the photo with my grandmother is in fact Ellen (according to my mother Philomena) Eric did have a twin sister who sadly died at childbirth but I have no further details of her.
I too would like to know more about Bharat Chandra Ghosh as my father and his siblings kept a silence about their early lives with their parents and indeed about their own lives. Ellen never married. Eric had three children-Michael. Elizabeth and David. (I am searching for details about my cousins) Donald-one son. Kenneth-one daughter Phyllis. Margaret Isobel i know died in Ottacamund in the 1940's. She and Bharat Chandra had been separated for quite a while before then. When he died he left his estate to his side of the family as his wife and children were estranged.
I can imagine all this info doesn't really help with your quest for more info about my grandfather but what I do know about his children I have stated. I do have a photograph of Bharat Chandra which I can scan and post if you wish and if you have found any more info about him, I would be very interested to hear more about him.
PS Just to add rather excitedly as I didn't look at the picture you posted fully as I didnt scroll to the other side-the gentleman in the picture is my father Donald and not Bharat. The Eric Herbert Henderson referred to in the post by Daisy Petal is Eric Henderson, Bharat's son. Eric worked in customs in Calcutta and his wife Katherine Norah eventually left for England just before the war taking the three children with her. Eric never saw them again.

Hi..... I don't know what to say......

I have wondered what had happened to the family for ages - Bharat's wife Margaret Isobel was my Grandmothers sister Helen Henderson from Edinburgh. I would love to see the photo that you spoke of or indeed any photos that you have of the family.  My late mum only knew of one child their daughter who was a bridesmaid at Helen's wedding I have a wedding photograph at home and a couple more of them together (she was known as Nellie as far as I know) - I had come across the names that you mentioned but did not think that they were the same family on some of the passenger lists, I was wrong.  Mum always referred to the photo as Barat Chandra, Isobel and Nellie - it is inscribed on the back as "the three of us" taken in Kashmir 1929 as far as I can remember.
I am currently based in the UK but can scan it and send it when I get back home and forward it on. Thanks for taking the time to answer my query, its great to get the details, it really is...

HI Homelands
So sorry. A fair amount of time has passed by since your reply, which I am very excited about. Unfortunately I didn't check back to see that you had indeed replied, so my sincerest apologies for all this time wasted. I hope we might be able to continue with our discussion about "the Family" as I see you and I are second cousins? Whatever, a cousin I never knew I had all this time which is very exciting.
Eagerly await your response as I do have pictures of the folks I am very happy to post for you to look at.
Regards
Jonathan
