Cooper
« on: Friday 11 April 14 00:58 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
My 2gt grandfather Henry Charles Cooper was baptised at Overton on 22 Oct 1822. The record indicates his father is Benjamin Cooper and his mother's name is Elizabeth.
According to Henry Charleses' marriages Benjamin was variously listed as printer//clerk/and stationer
His 1848 marriage at Pontfadog Denbighshire   lists his father as Benjamin Walter(? hard to read) Cooper.
A search of 1841 and 1851 census fails to find a suitable Benjamin Cooper so it is possible he died before this time.
If anyone has info on this line i would be most grateful.

Thanks
Tim

I'm wondering whether the Benjamin was from the area? There is a marriage listed at Saint Martin Birmingham of a Benjamin Walton Cooper and an Elizabeth Willis on the 2nd of December 1818.

We also know Benjamin Sr was a wine/spirit merchant in Wrexham before he went bankrupt in 1825.

I have considered this Benjamin but am not sure about a wine/spirit merchant becoming a clerk/printer/ or stationer.

Interesting to see the research re Benjamin Walton Cooper but unfortunately doesn't help me. As far as i can make out Benjamin Walton Cooper only had two sons-William and Benjamin.
Sometime between 1851-1860 my Henry Charles Cooper went to Lancashire and married Sarah Bramall in 1860 at Manchester and later Mary Mcreadie nee Bramall(Sarah's sister).

Now not sure what to believe. The 1851 and 1891 census has my 2gt grandfather Henry Charles Cooper listed as born Overton, Flintshire in 1822/23.I know his father was Benjamin from marriage cert.

However family search brings up the following:

Henry Charles Cooper
Gender:     Male
Baptism Date:     20 Oct 1822
Baptism Place:     Overton, Cheshire, England
Father:     Benjamin Cooper
Mother:     Elizabeth
FHL Film Number:     1751487
