Where was 5 Queens Place, Edinburgh?
« on: Friday 18 April 14 17:28 BST (UK) »
I have a record of family living in 5 Queens Place, Edinburgh in 1901, but I can't find it on any current maps. Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong spot, it is my first posting, and i am still trying to figure out the extent of this amazing resource. Thanks.

Although, according to other postings, Queens Place was a cul de sac off Greenside, and was cleared in the 1960s

Sorry to be coming in late, but i have only just seen this thread.
I used to visit Number 9 Queen's Place regularly in the 1950's as I had a relative there. It was never a pleasant experience as it was a slum by then, not helped by the fumes from the tobacco works at the top of the street.
This link gives an excellent descrription of the area http://www.quilietti.com/quilietti-homepage/places/greenside-edinburgh/
I remember the frequent fights spilling out of Fairleys on a Saturday, often caused by a resident of the area who promptly disappeared down Nottingham Place into the safety of the warren that was Greenside! Outsiders never gave chase there!
