Eleanor Dimmock
« on: Saturday 19 April 14 16:33 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
For ages now I have bene trying to locate my 4th great grandmother, Eleanor Dimmock, I have 6 marriage records from 1816 in St Marylebone when she married my 4th great grandfather, Isaac Seggins.
Isaac was from Ringland, Norfolk but they had their family in Weston Underwood, it has been suggested that Eleanor was from Buckinghamshire.

The problem I have had, is that Eleanor, I believe died before 1841 and I can't find any records for her whatsoever.
No birth records that stand out, no death records at all, just these marriage records that saay she and Isaac are both of the parish of Marylebone.
There is another marriage record for an Isaac Seggins in Norfolk, but I believe this is for another Isaac Seggins, born several years before my Isaac, in 1791.
So I'm stuck with this and I'm going nowhere, fast.

Any help would be greatly received.
Many thanks in advance,

Alex.

The marriage was on 10.4.1815 and Isaac was a bachelor & Eleanor a spinster.  Neither of the 2 witnesses was the same surname so no clues there.  Both shown as otp but that only means they satisfied the short residential period for marrying there - not that they were necessarily born there

It's so perplexing!
I have just now had to entertain the fact that she might have not actually been from Britain at all, their youngest daughter, my 3rd great grandmother, was called Anastatia.
I have noticed that Dimmock is a name that can be found in central Europe in places such as Hungary and I have found a Ukrainian record for an Anastatia Dimmock - albeit written in Cyrillic.

You refer to your Isaac Seggins as born 1791 Ringland.   There is only one baptism for an Isaac in Ringland in 1791 but that child died and was buried aged 1 month on 22/5/1791 (son of an Isaac Seggins and Frances (nee Crane).
