Marriage Date & Occupation

I'm a bit confused by the date of marriage on this certificate'
I think it could be April 11th or 12th written in roman numerals.

Also I cannot make out the occupation of the groom James Greenwood.
Any help very much appreciated.

I think the marriage date is 14th?

Roman numerals "xiv".

I would go with that date...In 1881 he was a Lace Maker...missing from the 1871 census so I would agree with Mariner.
