Napoleonic Soldiers Coming to Britian

Hi everyone,

I have a relative Louis Pique, from his obituary it appears he was a Napoleonic Soldier.  He appears in Dover in 1815 married a local girl and became quite a local celebrity!  There do not appear to be any passenger records for this period and I can not find his place of birth, it is simply given as France.  I have hit a large brick wall and wondered if there is anything linked with immigration records or his military past that may help us.  He said that he was related to Francois Louis Pique the famous violin maker from Roret/Boret in France, I have written to the mayor, but haven't been able to trace him.  Any help would be fantastic, thank you all.

I see also he remarried late in life, that gives us a father's name:

The violin maker was apparently from Vosges and "Boret/Roret" may have been a small location around Mirecourt.

He then lived in Paris for a while, though.

 - there are some parish records for Mirecourt here. You could perhaps look to see if there was a baptism for him there, or a  brother/cousin/etc for Francois Louis Pique who might fit with the father's details given at Louis' later marriage.
