What luck! I just found a photo of her from the "News" (South Australia) in 1935. Seems like she was a bit of high society.

JONES, HALL, CHACE, WRIGHT, CROCKER, NEPEAN, LAWRANCE, THORPE, ELLIOT, MORAN, all in South Australia. STÄRKE, SCHOLZ/SHOLZ in Prussia and South Australia. WATERS, FOWLER, INCE, MEARS, LLOYD, TRUSTER and COOPER in England (mainly Surrey). FRANKORT, LEUNISSEN, MUIJRERS, BROURERS, GORISSEN, DAMOISEAUX and LAHAYE/LAHIAJE in Limburg, Netherlands.

Now I've found an electoral roll for Gavin and Mary Douglas. I'd wager a guess that the third Douglas listed is their son, James Roderick Douglas, as they are living at the same residence. Gavin and Mary also had a daughter in 1942, according to the newspapers, but I haven't found any more about her.

BUT! there happens to be a J R Douglas still alive and living at Surrey Hills.... I have a photo of his Mum as a baby, if I've worked everything out right!

It's almost midnight, so I better go to sleep, but this is pretty exciting. :D

I have just found your post form 2014  - your assumptions are correct - the photograph is of Mary Hannah Hanlin Blair, my wife's mother as a child.

Hello Whyatt,
It's almost 2 years since your post, but I've just seen it.
Herbert John Blair was my great great uncle. His father John Macdonald Blair was my 3x great grandfather.
If you could get in touch I'd be grateful, I'm trying to find more out about Herbert.
