1871 Census - records missing from FindMyPast
« on: Thursday 15 May 14 01:14 BST (UK) »
Hello, I am wondering whether anyone has had similar problems to me.  A quick search of familysearch.org shows the 1871 details, as attached.

However, when I have searched FindMyPast for any (and all) of the persons listed I cannot locate them, so cannot view the original census page.

Given that they are 'inmates' I am guessing it is an institution.  Do I have to search differently for institutions or is there simply something wrong at the FindMyPast end?

I would very much like to see a copy of the original record and also curious to know what / where is the "H Of G" (ie where person is listed as Inmate of H of G).

Thanks

Hi

The census reference is RG10 Piece 902 Folio 60 Page 25 but using that information I couldn't find it on FindMyPast. It is The House of Industry, the relationship I think could be Inmate of H of I which would make sense.
Occupations are listed as Almsman or Almswoman with the exception of Rosa Finch, manageress and Harriett Smart, nurse

Andy

Note  Folio number corrected as pointed out by Bookbox

Hi,
I found them by just searching for Aniched (no other search terms). Rosa is a Manager at 'The House of Industry'.
(Pipped at the post by Andy ...)

[someone has amended Aniched to Michael  :-\ - looks like Aniched on the original  :)]

To add to the residents there is Ann S Freeland, Cousin, occupation 'Lady' b Rochester.

Thanks Andy & Ruskie, House of Industry seems logical, just wish I could see the actual record.

Ruskie, when I tried searching just for Aniched there was still no result!  Was your search on FindMyPast, or another source?

Thanks

Tried with pages before and after the relevant one.   Not there either.   You need to report to FindMyPast.

FindMyPast is missing the first 70-odd folios from piece 902 (or something is blocking the search results for those folios).

The reference is RG10 Piece 902 Folio 60 Page 25.

If they have digitised the page, they will probably send it to you.

Haywoods House in Rochester became known as the House of industry, google in Haywood house it was built for the poor of the St Nicholas district, and there a brief history of it.
