Do you have access to local papers?  - these records are very close to home/present - people concerned may even still be alive and therefore not allowed to be mentioned here.  Also their records may not be available yet.  Not sure of rules pertaining in UK.

Possibly your best bet would be to try reading the papers of the times in the family notices.    Libraries may have back copies of the newspapers.

Maybe Nora married under her birth father's surname?

I searched FreeBMD for a Dalyrimple marriage to a Nora - but nothing found :-\

Wiggy, UK has few restrictions of BMD records!
Birth, Marriage and Death registrations are freely available up to 2005 on sites such as Ancestry, FindMyPast, GenesReunited, etc.
Later entries are available at certain, named, buildings up to 18 months ago?

I have been to the Carlisle archives library i couldnt find anything there i had a look at some news paper film at the library drew a blank on that but with not knowing exact year makes it harder it is possible that nora could be still alive she will be quite an old lady her father died in 1964 i know she didnt have any children so i cant try and find her that way either.i also tried finding her on free bmd and Genes Reunited that drew a blank but dalyrimple is not a common name.i might have to accept that i am not going to find her  margaret55

Hi,

Had you considered the fact that Nora may be the shortened form of Leonora?

From Free Bmd

Leonora Little married March Q 1946  Nthmbld.S   [short for Northumberland South] 10b 522

Husband  William A Thompson.

If this is your Nora then there were a number of children born to this couple.

I think you need to go back to your cousin, and get more information?

Is she sure about the name, Dalrymple?
What was his forename?
Roughly when did then get married?
What was Nora's birth name?

I tried searching FreeBMD for any Dalrymple marriage to a Litttle, and any Dalrymple marriage to a Nora or Leonora.
No results at all!
