Dimambro family (Icecream and Confectioners)
« on: Thursday 22 May 14 13:03 BST (UK) »
I am researching the family of Antonio Dimambro and his wife Raffaela (Caravaggi), married 1949 in Pontypridd, South Wales, UK.  They had an icecream and confectionary shop and café in Markham, Nr. Blackwood, Gwent where they lived until their death.  Antonio Dimambro had connections in Scotland and Durham.  He served in WW2 and had 3 sons.  I believe there are connections to Cassini/Casino, Italy.  I am trying to find the parents of Antonio.  His mother may have been Carmela.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I believe Anna of Durham is also researching this family on Rootsweb and I would welcome any response from her.

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

A copy of their marriage cert will give you their fathers names and occupation but little else

Antonio died in 1990 and his death reg shows his birthdate as 2.3.1914

Raffaella died in 1983 - birthdate 15.6.1922

You would need to contact Anna via Rootsweb as that is a different website than Rootschat

Hi,
CaroleW is right ,you would need his marriage  certificate to confirm father etc.
There is the following on Freebmd but would need to be confirmed by the above.
Marriage Sep/Oct/Nov 1911  Pontypridd 11a 1105
Giuseppe Dimampro
Carmela Rustici

Birth Apr/May/June 1914 Pontypridd 11a 1274
Antonio Diambro  mmn Rustici

The spellings of surnames are not correct but its not unheard of them to be misheard or misspelled at registration.
Antonio born early March could quite easily have been registered in the next quarter.

Many thanks to Carole W and Cathy 151.  I am really grateful to you both for the information which I am certain relates to the family I am researching.  I know there was definitely a Carmela who married Antonio Dimambro;  she died aged 39 and it was a real breakthrough to discover her maiden name.  I am doing my best to come up with certificates to authenticate but am pretty sure you've put me on the right track.  Hopefully I will now become more confident in using Rootschat.   Again, thank you both so much for your help.
Kind regards
Piplyn

To Carole W and Cathy 151.  Apologies for error - I meant Carmela was married to Guiseppe and not Antonio.
Kind regards
Piplyn
