Hello... :)

I wonder if Henry's marriage to Mary Ann Walker was non conformist or register office, as it isn't on the Notts FHS marriage index.

These seem to fit with what Liz has found.

There are 14 Shepherd baptisms at Lenton with parents Samuel & Mary - these are the ones I think are yours......

Marriage at LENTON - 3 Jan 1826
Samuel SHEPHARD & Mary ROBERTS

Baptisms - LENTON Priory
6th May 1827 - Henry  - parents Samuel & Mary Shepherd - Fathers occupation = Warp lacemaker
15th March 1829  - Reuben - parents Samuel & Mary Shepherd - Fathers occupation = Cottonwarper
7th Dec 1831 - Charles - parents Samuel & Mary Shepherd - Fathers occupation = Lacewarper

I now suspect that the marriage I gave of Samuel Shepherd & Mary Roberts  may be the wrong one  ::).

There is another Samuel & Mary Shepherd in Lenton. They are on the 1841 with children : Sarah, Lucy, Mark, Enoch, Lois & Sidney - fathers occupation = Lacemaker - HO107/858/37/6, Spring Close, Lenton.

I see Ann & Catherine are also on the 1841 census which Liz has given you.

The more likely marriage:

Lenton - 28th March 1815
Samuel SHEPHERD & Mary HETHERSAY

Baptisms at Lenton
16th June 1816 - William SHEPHERD - parents Samuel & Mary - occupation Bleacher.
7th March 1818 - ANN SHEPHERD - parents Samuel & Mary - occupation Bleacher.
29th Aug 1824 - Catherine SHEPHERD - parents Samuel & Mary - occupation Bleacher.

Burial at Lenton
Samuel SHEPHERD - 2nd Nov 1831 - aged 38 yrs

The only Mary Hethersay I can find around 1801 in Nottingham is Mary Hithersay 18th June 1807 in Oxton on Familysearch and Freereg could this be the one that married Samuel?

Interestingly the tree I got this from that was submitted on Familysearch says this Mary's parents Charles Hithersay and Mary Lamb married in 1786 in Basford.

hi Burto,

Samuel and Mary Hithersay also had a daughter Mary christened on 12 June 1787 at Oxton I cannot find a burial for her so maybe this and the Mary in 1807 was the same Mary christened twice, I have come across this happening before,  I can have a look at her marriage to Samuel Shephead at Nottingham archives for any clues if you like, hoping to go in the next week.
