War Brides??
« on: Friday 30 May 14 14:49 BST (UK) »
I have been looking for Rhoda Campbell b 1922 Durham & think I may have found her on the shipping list with a daughter aged 2.
These people were aboard the "Sacramento" which left Newport, Mon. 28.2.1946 bound for New York.
She is grouped with 3 other women & their children & their home address is given as
War Office QM26, QMG House London.
Can anyone explain the address or confirm that they were War Brides going to join their husbands/fiances in America.

QMG may be Quartermaster General.  :-\

Was Campbell her married name? Do you have her marriage certificate which may give a US military occupation for her husband.

I had a nasty feeling I might be barking up the wrong tree.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Thanks anyway.

If you give what information you have, there may be a few people on here that may be able to help :)
You have given Rhoda Campbell, born 1922 Durham so far, do you know her parents/siblings?
