Hi I would presume if John Wills was your GGGrandfather you would be aware of any children that he had, as it would appear that possibly the couple did not marry until 1848, I will provide a possible 1851 census, and a possible marriage!

1851 Census

John Wills 53 occ Greenwich Pensioner b Plymouth, Devon
Margaret 47 b Morice Town, Devon (says Stoke Damerel in 1861, about a mile away)
Residing The Parade, Plymouth
Census Ref HO107/1878/159/1 ( 1871 John 75 Margaret 68 RG10/2117/123/10

Possible marriage on Freebmd John Wills to (on same page) Margaret Oliver Dec qtr 1848 Plymouth v9 page 480

Margaret Oliver aged 40 b Devon can be found in 1841 in Stillman Street, Plymouth, in same household is a Mary Wills aged 80
Census Ref HO107/271/21/36

So question, was John married previously, and possibly Margaret?

And above all, welcome to Rootschat!
