Selina Phoebe Hughes 1905

Hello

I said earlier that this would be my last post for a while. Well my cousin has asked for some research from me.

His grandmother Selina Phoebe Hughes was born in Bridgend in 1905. However, she is nowhere to be seen on the 1911 census. Her mother had the maiden name Thomas and her father had the surname Hughes.

Any help would be appreciated in finding her and her family

I am drawn to the Selina Phoby Hugh, aged 5 born Caerau, which could be in Bridgend registration district.
 
from familysearch so I cant find any more info, but mistranscriptions are not unknown on the 1911.  :P

Have you checked to see if she is with her grandparents (Thomas) ?

Yes, I cannot seem to find her.

When I get the money, i can obtain a birth certificate. However I would rather avoid the expense and find them on the census

Were her grandparents Thomas and Selina Thomas?

If so, she would appear to be the one mazi found, Selina Phoby Hughe, born Caerau, aged 5, living with Thomas and Selina Thomas and a grandson Ivor Harris :-\ aged 2, born Tylorstown.

There's a marriage in Bridgend for a Selina Hughes to a Wilfred J Davies, Sept quarter 1929.

If you’re on Ancestry, the one Mazi found is well mangled as Selina Phiby Height!

following Thomas and Selina thomas back, there's a daughter Mary E b Llanidloes c1881. Interestingly she appears to be a servant in a Harris household in Tylorstown and they have a son called Ivor!

Hi

I got hold of the birth certificate today. Her parents were Griffith Hughes and Delia Jane Thomas.

They are on the 1911 census, but Selina is absent. If we can believe she is living with her grandparents, then they are her mothers parents
