Help with Mary OSMOND in WOODHOUSE family tree
« on: Friday 06 June 14 20:44 BST (UK) »
I'm researching my partners tree and have started with his family name WOODHOUSE. In doing this I've come to a dead end and need some help. I'm back to John WOODHOUSE born abt 1792 in Middlesex. I have his marriage to a Mary OSMOND in 12/6/1812 by Marriage bond?...in Stepney. John is cited as a bachelor but Mary is cited as a Widow. I have them in the 1841 census and in 51, in Shoreditch, where Marys birth place is shown as Dartford Kent. I can't find them any further forward in Census, but see John in elec reg's up to 1882 age 90.
PROBLEM = Mary was clearly married before but to who? Census suggests she was born 1791 and married John in 1812 - so was married and widowed very young. I have no idea what her maiden name was so can't look for her birth either.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Hi

Something to look into

There is a marriage in Shenley Herts. which isnt too far from Dartford or London

John Osmond married a Mary King in 2 Oct. 1804 Shenley.

Found a christening record of a Mary King 9 Oct 1791 Dartford. Parents: John and Sarah.

Hi Claire,
Thanks for that, it certainly looks possible! I'll have to try and find a death for John Osmond between 1804 and 1812....to make it more likely! Def worth more digging!
Cheers
