Does anyone know how I can access these Records please?

'East Grinstead Burial Registers (1599-1900)

Burial registers are the primary source for death documentation before 1837, though are relevant to the present. They record the date someone was buried, their age & residence'.

I found a Link to them on:

But when I click on it, - it just says, 'Not found'.

I am trying to find a Burial Location for Amelia Pattenden who was Buried in East Grinstead on the 1st May 1869.

What I am trying to find is the Location of her Burial.

Burial Services
East Grinstead Town Council is the burial authority for the parish of East Grinstead, and two public cemeteries are situated within its area of responsibility. The original cemetery located at West Hill, known as Queens’ Road cemetery was opened in 1869, and remained the main cemetery for the town until the new cemetery at Mount Noddy started to accept burials in 1916. Over the following 30 years Mount Noddy assumed a greater role, and with the eventual closure for new earthen graves at Queens’ Road in the 1960’s, Mount Noddy became the main cemetery for East Grinstead.

But it doesn't give the Burial location does it? Just the Ref for the Death Cert, - or am I wrong?

You are right, It just gives the reference for the death certificate.

Hi Rosie,

Thanks for the further details.

Am I correct in thinking that you have to go to an LDS Family History Centre to view their records? Or can you order on-line?

I've written to the West Sussex County Archive in Chichester asking if they hold the Bishop's Transcripts for Burials too. (I think that this Ref relates to Bishop's Transcripts: GS Film number:    1041581)

You could order them online though they changed the 'goal posts' and said you had to be over 50 miles from a family history centre.  I haven't ordered any recently to see how rigid they are with that. Worth a try
